In class we were given a bag of random objects and told to make a creation of them. My bag composed of bubble wrap, a glasses case, an eraser, a pencil a button, and a dragon-like action figure. My partner and I put the pieces together to make a creation titled “The Dragon Raider”. I used all of the items in the bag to create a piece.
When I looked at the pieces in the bag, the first question that popped into my mind my mind was “what?”. I was confused as to what to create, so I began by drawing a smiley face on the eraser. From there – it had a life of its own. I then went on to adjust various pieces until I decided on a position. When I look at this item, the first thing that comes to mind is wander, and or exploration. The piece created was meant to represent a being (the eraser) traveling on a journey of some sort. I see the “Dragon Raider” as a piece eager for a journey – it somewhat brings forth a feeling of childhood.
All in all, from this activity, I found that creativity is complex. Each person sees things in an subjective manner, and in this, it is important to be able to execute purpose in a clear and concise manner.
